Bespoke Copy + Microcopy Suites for High Profile Titles

I wrote and edited bespoke copy suites for dozens of high-profile titles like Cowboy Bebop and Yasuke. Using metadata tags, the Netflix algorithm shows individual users the copy or microcopy most likely to drive them to watch the show.

Impact: These bespoke copy suites lift viewership for high profile titles by as much as 10%, driving viewing hours on Netflix and member joy.

I’ve put together a slideshow explaining the content strategy choices that I made while writing the suite of synopses for Cowboy Bebop. High-profile titles like this required explaining initial choices to cross-functional partner teams repeatedly, taking their feedback to make sure that my team’s copy met other teams’ goals and that external partners were satisfied with the final results. Each suite went through multiple iterations of feedback, explanations, and revisions to meet these goals while upholding my team’s goal of improving the user experience.

Brazil Country of Focus newsletter

I created and wrote a monthly newsletter circulating cross-functional product updates to 200+ relevant leads and directors. (Unfortunately the actual content is proprietary; what you see here is part of the underlying newsletter template.) The newsletter uses the colors of the Brazilian flag and a few phrases in Brazilian Portuguese to signal its geographic focus for the English-language audience.

Impact: Enabled key decision makers to guide strategy, learn about wins, and realize user growth opportunities in a company-wide country of focus for 2023.

Portfolio Project: Audio App for an Art Gallery

For my main portfolio project in the Google UX Design Course on Coursera, I’m designing an audio guide app for an art gallery using Figma. Screenshots from my low-fidelity prototype are shown here. Check out my slide deck walking through the design process, or interact with the low-fi prototype on Figma.

Product Writing Anime Lead

As a team lead, editor, and writer, I wrote and edited hundreds of copy strings (max 153 characters) showcasing the unique appeal of titles on Netflix, primarily anime and Japanese-language. These pieces of content were geared towards empowering users to make informed viewing choices; we sought to accurately reflect content and hook users’ interest, ensuring that the titles matched their expectations from the synopsis text and improving the user experience.

Impact: A/B testing consistently showed that human-created synopses drove viewership on the service and grew member joy, decreasing churn. During my time as a team lead, anime viewership in particular grew by 20% globally.
